I was very fortunate to have worked at Walden, it was six years of pure joy. The kids at Walden are the "best in the city" making the environment there absolutely wonderful and creating a very relaxing atmosphere for students as well as teachers. I will always remember those biking classes, and an occassional "screw up" in the computer lab:) Please stay in touch. Email: mckartz@wi.net |

To my Walden family: thanks to all of you for giving me 24 years of teaching that I really enjoyed. It's always nice to hear from you and how you're doing. Please stay in touch and let me know how you're doing. Good luck in life! Email: peggyh-d@sbcglobal.net |

I think Walden is the best high school experience anyone can have. I could not have made it or done as well at another high school. Walden taught me to be responsible for myself and strive to do my best. When I came here I was very shy and introverted. Walden has helped me become comfortable with myself. |

My experience as a Walden student have all been very pleasant. The teachers were always willing to help you if you were having a problem in their class. Most of the "growing" and "self discovery" happens to people during high school. I do believe that the atmosphere you are in at the time plays a major role in that. Walden has had a very positive impact on this stage of my life, and it has taught me things that I don't think I would have learned elsewhere. I discovered an overflowing amount of respect towards everyone, even if I really didn't like them. I believe Walden is one of those schools that tries to prepare you for the "real world" as much as possible. I have done a lot of growing at Walden, and it has very much played a large role in the person I am today. I will sincerely miss this last section of my life, I could not have asked for a better school, or school experience. |

I've been here since 6th grade and am honestly glad I decided to go here. I now value more this school than I did before. This is because everyday I go to Horlick to take a Calculus Class. I hate the lack of freedom there is there. Students are treated like little kids sometimes. For example, they have hall monitors scattered about the school with walkie talkies so they can radio each other. Then you need hall passes any time you're out of the classroom. Even going to the bathroom required a pass. Without one, the "hall gestapo" won't remove the barricades so you can continue down the hallway. Where as at Walden, none of these exists. Teachers are great. |

I have been at Walden for seven wonderful years. When I first stepped foot in Walden I instantly felt at ease. The comfort of the school and the warmth of the family here just made me feel so good to be here on the first day. I right away made friends with everyone and not just in my class. In the higher classes above me here at Walden, everyone is family. There is no middle/high school hatred. We all have each other and we all treat each other great. Walden has been my second home for seven years. When I think about my graduation day, its like turning 18 and being forced to move out and find somewhere else to live. I love Walden and I love the people that go here. You're suppose to be happy when you graduate. I am going to cry on June 4th, 2004, but it's not because I'm graduating, it because I am leaving. Walden has been great to me for seven years. It's helped me through thick and thin, inside and outside of school. Now it's time to say good bye. Bye Walden and thank you for being in my life. |

Myself and my 2 siblings attended and graduated from Walden III. I don't think that anyone can ever understand the impact that this wonderful school had on one's life unless they attended Walden. The staff doesn't consists of teachers, lunch ladies and janitors. The staff is Jane, Betty, Roy, Jerry but most of all, confidants and friends. What most don't realize is that many of us, right out of a traditional public schools, some private..made a choice to go to Walden but, even more importantly, Walden made the choice to allow us to join it's family! Boy what a wonderful experience it was! Email: hkeckblad@comcast.com |

Recently I stopped at Walden and walked through it's halls, the time I spent at Walden III, 1980-1982, were amazing years for me. I treasure the education and experiences that I received. It struck me funny how the current student body resembled the student body that I graduated with. My memories are of a Walden that is over two decades past. But there were the same groups that filled the halls, the metal heads, the science geeks, the army jacket brigade and others. The staff had almost completly changed, a few familiar faces to say hello to but for the most part a different staff. It was apparent that the school that I went to had also graduated and move on with it's life. I truly wish I had the words to tell the student body to take everything that is offered to them by this school, it will prepare you for life in ways that you have no idea at the age you are. The teachers that are here, teach because they want to, the ROPE program exists because it has been nutured for many years. The size of the student body is like nothing you will ever have in your lives again. Enjoy these years. |

It's been three years now since I graduated. It's hard to believe that it's been that long already. I know that Walden has helped make me a better person. The class of 2001 was one of the best. Let me know how you all are doing. Email: songjee83@hotmail.com |

There are so many good things I could say about this wonderful school. Any student reading this now might not realize that Walden III might be just about the most important guiding factor in your life. Walden III taught me to grow in many ways. Respect is a big one having attended other public schools I know that they can not even begin to say they have the respect of all their students. I believe at Walden III, all the students respect all their instructors and as crazy as it may sound to an outsider, respect other students. I also learned how to organize my free time. At what other school would you be given time to study what you like, and instead of goofing around they actually study! I learned more at Walden III in five years than I ever could have at a normal public student factory (public school). I will always to here to support the Walnuts however I can. email: Racineraiders@hotmail.com |

Walden III was more than a school for me, it was a second home. I was sent there because my teachers felt that I was an exceptional student, and though not as exceptional as some, I learned one thing there that was never printed in a book nor written on a board. I learned there are some things worth fighting for, I learned that not every fight is physical, and I learned how to chose my battles. Most of all how to persist if the face of adversity. I have painted murals on the wall, and made friends no doubt, but I feel my greatest impression on Walden was made in the fight to keep it alive. Throughout my middle and high school career at Walden I was faced with many challenges, many times to my own peril, if it had not been for the care and support of the incredible staff and students at Walden I doubt I would be where I am today. I feel I am a better person having attended Walden, a stronger mind having learned there, and more human having known H.D. Thoreau?s works. ?If a man marches to a different beat, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer, let him march to the music he hears, however measured or far away.? ? H.D. Thorea |

| Walden has meant so much to me. Now looking back, my three years at Walden were the best years of my life . . . so far. I can't imagine where I'd be, if I hadn't been a part of such a loving "family". Class' of 97-00 and who ever else I knew . . . I miss you all, and think of you often. Look me up, I am still around and doing well. Email: goddessaja@yahoo.com |
