RACINE - A group of Walden parents and staff met
Thursday night to discuss the possibility of
becoming a charter school, a move that would give
the school more control over its educational
philosophy and finances but that lacks teacher
support.
We have a few new developments in the idea of
turning the former Zahn's Department Store building
on Monument Square into Walden III School.
A group of Walden III School parents are
exploring ways to save or move the alternative
school, which is housed in Racine Unified's
building most in need of renovation.
Do the math.
32 schools in Racine Unified, some of them
dating back to pre-Civil War days.
Half of them need paint work.

hosting a Wine Tasting fundraiser to raise money to
reopen an art room as a computer lab at Walden III
Middle and High School. The fundraiser will be held
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, at
Uncorkt, 240 Main St.

About a week after concerned Walden III Middle and
High School parents met about several year's worth
of uncompleted repair orders, painting fixes are
under way at the school. More work is planned in
coming weeks.
